Frequently Asked Questions

Everything homeowners ask about the Power Choice program.

Get the facts on PRIME’s utility-backed Solar + Battery Program.

What is the Power Choice program?

Power Choice is the utility-backed solar + battery program available to qualifying PRIME customers. Homelink Solar installs solar and battery with no upfront cost, no credit check, and no liens. You pay for the energy the system produces through your existing electric bill.

What are the qualification requirements?

You must own your home and be an existing PRIME customer. The program does not require a FICO score review. If you live within PRIME jurisdiction but are not currently a PRIME customer, call PRIME at 1-800 GO-PRIME to enroll.

How do I know if I’m a PRIME customer?

Look at your monthly SCE bill. Delivery charges are presented from SCE, while Generation charges are presented from PRIME. If you see PRIME listed for generation, you’re a PRIME customer. Not sure? Contact PRIME at 1-800 GO-PRIME or [email protected].

How long does installation take?

The construction crew is at your house for about a week. Total timeline from order to final operation is about 3–4 months — this includes design, permitting, utility interconnection, and post-install permission-to-operate (typically 2–6 weeks after install).

What happens if I sell my home?

The contract transfers to the new buyer with zero additional credit review or underwriting. If the future owner prefers to own the system outright, they may buy it out at fair market value.

Am I locked into a contract?

Yes. When you enroll, you agree to buy the energy your system produces on a fixed long-term basis — that's how you lock in your low rate. You can opt out, but if you do so after install, you'll need to buy out the system at fair market value.

Do I have to commit after the consultation?

Absolutely not. The consultation is purely educational and there's zero obligation. Show up, learn how Power Choice works, ask questions — that's it.
