Frequently Asked Questions

Everything homeowners ask about the Power Choice program.

Get the facts on Pomona Choice Energy's utility-backed Solar + Battery Program.

What is the Power Choice program?

Power Choice is Pomona Choice Energy's official utility-backed solar + battery program. Aloha Solar Power installs solar and battery on your home with no upfront cost, no credit check, and no liens. You simply pay for the energy your system produces through your existing electric bill — at a low locked-in rate.

What are the qualification requirements?

You must own your home and be an existing Pomona Choice Energy (PCE) customer. There are no other qualifications — no FICO score review, no income requirement. If you live within PCE jurisdiction but aren't currently a PCE customer, you can call PCE to enroll at (909) 620-2079.

How do I know if I'm a PCE customer?

Look at your monthly SCE bill — you'll see two sets of charges. Delivery charges are presented from SCE (transmission & delivery). Generation charges are presented from PCE (your energy supply). If you see both, you're a PCE customer. Not sure? Contact PCE at (909) 620-2079.

Can I really win an EV or $35,000 cash?

Yes. Pomona Choice Energy is running an EV Giveaway Contest for residential Power Choice customers. Enroll and get your system installed by August 31, 2026, register by May 31, 2026, and submit a short essay with a photo for your chance to win a new electric vehicle — or $35,000 cash if you'd rather. Already a Power Choice customer? You're still eligible to enter.

How long does installation take?

The construction crew is at your house for about a week. Total timeline from order to final operation is about 3–4 months — this includes design, permitting, utility interconnection, and post-install permission-to-operate (typically 2–6 weeks after install).

What happens if I sell my home?

The contract transfers to the new buyer with zero additional credit review or underwriting. If the future owner prefers to own the system outright, they may buy it out at fair market value.

Am I locked into a contract?

Yes. When you enroll, you agree to buy the energy your system produces on a fixed long-term basis — that's how you lock in your low rate. You can opt out, but if you do so after install, you'll need to buy out the system at fair market value.

Do I have to commit after the consultation?

Absolutely not. The consultation is purely educational and there's zero obligation. Show up, learn how Power Choice works, ask questions — that's it.
